R4WO Ringvaart bridge Evergem - BE
PROJECT
The R4WO redevelopment is one of the largest infrastructure projects in Flanders. With an investment of €726 million, the project aims to improve mobility and road safety around Ghent, while enhancing the quality of life in neighbouring residential areas. The works are carried out by De Werkvennootschap and the BRAVO4 consortium, consisting of BESIX, Stadsbader, EPICo, I4B – The Belgian Infrastructure Fund and RID PPP. The programme includes 14 junctions and multiple engineering structures. A key component is the new Ringvaart Bridge in Wondelgem/Evergem, designed by Ney & Partners and built by Victor Buyck Steel Construction.
The assembly of the various bridge components takes place directly on site. Enclosed scaffold structures with work platforms at 35 m height, combined with temporary stair towers, enable welding, painting and installation works to be carried out in safe, weather-protected conditions.

CLIENT TESTIMONIAL
The use of the AFIX FAST X52 system scaffolding on our construction site for the new Ringvaart Bridge was a genuine added value. Thanks to its high stability, modular design and fast assembly, our teams were able to work safely and efficiently at heights of up to 35 metres. The engineering support provided by AFIX was exceptionally strong: they actively engaged with us on the complex geometry of the steel structure and delivered a customised solution perfectly aligned with our needs. The collaboration was transparent, professional and without surprises. For us, AFIX FAST is a reliable system that we will gladly use again in future projects.
