FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about DIBt approval
Is a calculation note always required?
When the scaffolding structure is in accordance with the standard configurations given in the DIBt approval, a calculation note is not required. In all other cases, it is mandatory; the AFIX engineering team can prepare calculation reports for non-standard configurations.
How can I recognize scaffolds with DIBt approval?
The DIBt-approved AFIX FAST X52 system can be identified by:
- bearing the “Ü-Zeichen” approval mark Ü 1012
- accompanying documentation (certificates, delivery documents, and reference to the approval)
Does the DIBt approval include data for scaffold design calculations for AFIXFAST X52?
Yes. The DIBt approval contains all relevant AFIXFAST X52 data, formulas, and charts useful for structural engineers preparing calculation reports for (non-standard) scaffolding configurations. For standard configurations, all relevant data can be found in the technical DIBt approval document.
What are the best practices for a scaffolding project?
Create an overview of components marked with the Ü symbol covered by the DIBt approval.
Follow the official assembly guidelines, carry out regular inspections, and keep all relevant project documentation (approvals, calculations, inspections, and clearances) in a completion dossier.
Is there an assembly manual for the AFIX FAST X52 scaffolding system with DIBt approval?
Yes. In addition to the technical DIBt approval, you can download the assembly manual in the Downloads section on our website.
Is the residual value of DIBt-certified material higher?
In many cases: yes, because DIBt-certified material:
- is more broadly deployable (including in Germany or on stricter industrial sites),
- is easier to resell on the second-hand market,
- provides additional confidence to buyers or rental customers.
Naturally, residual value also depends on condition, maintenance, and market demand. However, DIBt primarily acts as a value enhancer, as it makes your equipment future-proof for larger or more strictly regulated projects.
Does DIBt approval apply only in Germany?
Primarily yes, as some German federal states require it by law —
however, it often serves as strong evidence of quality and compliance in tenders and audits.
Many other countries and big industrial companies consider DIBt approval as a necessary evidence of compliance with EN12810/12811.
Can I trade in older material?
Trade-ins are not “standard”, as existing equipment still retains value and remains perfectly usable. That said, we can think along with you in upgrade scenarios, depending on your situation. Possible options include:
- Mixing / supplementing: adding DIBt-certified material to your fleet for specific projects.
- Targeted upgrade: replacing only critical components (where required for tenders or audits).
- Buy-back or exchange: potentially possible on a project basis (depending on condition, volumes, and type of material).
If you inform us of the volumes and types you currently own, we can provide a concrete proposal tailored to your needs.
